Far-Right Rally in London Erupts in Violence as Elon Musk urges 'Revolutionary Government Change, and Musk's Rallying Cry: Tech Billionaire addresses Tommy Robinson Event, declares "You Either Fight Back or You Die"
LONDON — A massive far-right demonstration, organized by activist Tommy Robinson and dubbed "Unite the Kingdom," descended into chaos in central London on Saturday, resulting in significant violence and multiple arrests. The event, which drew an estimated 110,000 to 150,000 people, was amplified by a provocative video address from tech billionaire Elon Musk, who called for a "change of government" and warned attendees that "violence is coming to you. You either fight back or you die."

Tommy Robinson's "Unite the Kingdom" rally draws massive crowd, sparks violent clashes with police. The rally, one of the largest of its kind in British history, was billed by Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon) as a "free speech festival." However, it quickly became a platform for anti-immigrant and nationalist rhetoric, attracting a diverse array of far-right figures from across Europe.
Elon Musk, whose unexpected participation via video link drew global attention, delivered a highly charged speech that echoed the event’s anti-establishment sentiment. He accused the political left of being "the party of murder and celebrating murder," and urged the crowd to prepare for "revolutionary government change." Musk's call for a dissolution of Parliament and new elections was a direct intervention into UK politics, which Labour MP Diane Abbott and others were quick to condemn. Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey described Musk's involvement as "deeply irresponsible," while Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood focused her criticism on the subsequent violence.
The Metropolitan Police, which deployed over 1,000 officers to manage the protest and a nearby counter-demonstration, reported widespread clashes. Officers were assaulted with projectiles, including bottles and flares, and faced physical attacks and verbal abuse as some protesters attempted to breach police barriers. At least 26 police officers were injured, and 25 arrests were made for offenses ranging from violent disorder to assaults. The scenes of unrest underscored the challenges faced by law enforcement in containing a protest fueled by such impassioned and inflammatory rhetoric.

The "Unite the Kingdom" rally served as a key gathering for international far-right figures. French politician Éric Zemmour, a proponent of the "Great Replacement" conspiracy theory, spoke to the crowd, as did members of Germany’s far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party. Controversial British personalities like former reality TV star Katie Hopkins and actor Laurence Fox also took the stage. The rally was dedicated to Charlie Kirk, an American right-wing activist who died recently, a move by Robinson to link the event to a broader, transnational conservative movement. A counter-demonstration, organized by Stand Up to Racism and attended by an estimated 5,000 people, was held about a mile away, in a bid to provide a peaceful alternative. Organizers accused Robinson and his allies of spreading "dangerous lies" that endanger asylum seekers and migrants.
The event took place against a backdrop of heightened anti-immigration sentiment in the UK, amplified by political debates over small boat crossings in the English Channel. The rally’s scale and the high-profile involvement of figures like Musk have highlighted a growing shift in the far-right's influence, moving from fringe groups to a more visible and organized force capable of staging major national demonstrations. The violence and the strong political reactions signal a new and volatile chapter in the UK's ongoing discourse on immigration and social cohesion.
